
C asean Lanna joined hands with Chiang Mai University Business School (CMUBS) to organize "C asean Biz Talk: Craft for Community" to pass on local wisdom culture to the new generation to learn from practice.
On 26 February 2025 at C asean Lanna, Chiang Mai University Business School (CMUBS) welcomed more than 60 students and 20 social entrepreneurs who were interested in community handicrafts and sustainable contribution to the community’s economic growth.
This activity was considered a platform to exchange knowledge, experiences, and ideas on promoting and supporting handicrafts as an important mechanism to strengthen communities and create positive impacts on sustainable society and economy. It also emphasized on social impact through passing on local wisdom culture to the new generation so that they can be further developed and applied to the current context effectively.
The event included a seminar to exchange ideas on developing handicrafts for sustainable growth. The panel included:
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Narumon Kimphakorn, Deputy Dean of Chiang Mai University Business School
- Phakawadi Kaewchomphu, Owner of the hand-woven cotton Natrada Cotton and branding expert
- Phasinee Siriprapa, Managing Director of Clay me_PS
- Supharat Kanthawong, President of the Lanna San Pu Loei Handicraft Community Enterprise Group

The panelists shared experiences on adding value to products, accessing markets, and promoting participation among the new generation. In addition, there were workshops for participants to try out various types of handicrafts, such as weaving, sculpting, and woven fabrics, which received a lot of attention. Participants were impressed and saw this as a good opportunity to enhance their skills and expand their knowledge of handicrafts.



This event was another important platform to support the development of Thai handicrafts for sustainable growth and to encourage cooperation between the business sector, communities, and educational institutions to create opportunities and economic and social value, as well as to inspire the new generation to jointly conserve and pass on local wisdom into the future.
