In a good collaboration, mutual understanding is the foundation that comes from recognizing, understanding, and accepting the differences of one another. By achieving this combination, we can then learn and collectively grow as a community. C asean sees the importance of supporting the citizen of the world mindset, thus we have been working with partners to initiate activities under our three scopes of focus: Business & Sustainability, Learning & Talent Development, and Arts & Culture.
C asean Consonant
C asean Consonant, the one and only ASEAN traditional ensemble, uses the universal language of music to connect and intertwine the cultural heritages of ASEAN countries. By fostering understanding, friendship, and collaboration, it creates a bridge that unites the region, while celebrating its rich traditions. Through this initiative, traditional music becomes a powerful tool for cultivating a shared ASEAN identity and inspiring appreciation for cultural heritage.
The ensemble brings together 10 talented musical prodigies from 10 ASEAN countries to co-create captivating performances using traditional musical instruments. These performances are showcased in a series of C asean Consonant concerts and online knowledge tank, offering audiences access to the beauty and richness of ASEAN’s musical traditions. This platform serves as a space for the younger generation to develop, share, learn, and preserve the traditional music of ASEAN.
C asean Consonant has inspired a new generation across ASEAN to recognize the value of preserving their local traditions while fostering respect for cultural differences. By emphasizing the importance of safeguarding traditional music, the project encourages the creation of a shared ASEAN identity amidst the region’s diverse cultural tapestry.
