ASEAN Literature Programme
The ASEAN Literature Programme redefines literature as a powerful medium to bridge gaps, foster regional connectivity, and promote mutual understanding among ASEAN nations. By exploring stories and perspectives across member states, it highlights the unique yet interconnected identities within ASEAN, cultivating empathy and appreciation. This initiative enhances cultural understanding and strengthens regional bonds, paving the way for greater unity and connectivity across the region.
The programme was launched with “The ASEAN Literature Talk” on August 8, 2024, as part of the ASEAN Day Celebration. The talk captivated attendees with thought-provoking discussions, engaging questions, and meaningful exchanges, offering a deeper understanding of ASEAN's literary and cultural diversity.
To provide key tool for fostering cross-cultural dialogue and understanding, a creative writing workshop titled “Write Your Inner Journey” was introduced. Through the art of storytelling, the workshop inspires participants to unlock their creativity while enhancing cognitive abilities and writing skills.
The ASEAN Literature Programme marks an important step toward fostering deeper connections among ASEAN nations through shared narratives and creative expression. By engaging a wide audience, the initiative aims to strengthen regional understanding and nurture a sense of unity within the ASEAN community.
